BIOGRAPHY

  • Steven received his undergraduate degree in Biology from the California State University Northridge and then went on to pursue his doctorate degree in Physical Therapy from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences in San Diego, CA. Steven values a multi-modal approach to physical therapy including manual therapy, specific therapeutic exercise, and overall wellness.

Currently, Steven is in training to become an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist and a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy. He has a special interest in the mechanisms of manual therapy, pain neuroscience education, and the relationship between both. He hopes to provide research that expands upon the relationship between the mechanisms of manipulation and its effects on the nervous system. He also has a passion in studying the importance of the biopsychosocial components of chronic, persistent pain and reconciling pain science with biomechanics. He hopes to combat the heavy usage of opioids with more advocacy and awareness of physical therapy to the general public and within the healthcare system.

On his free time, Steven enjoys reading PT research, discovering new craft beers, reading comic books, and french toast.
